Itinerary Details
Day 1: Arrival and Arusha Introduction Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by a friendly guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a town tour visiting local markets, the Maasai Market, or the Cultural Heritage Centre. This first day is designed to help you settle in and prepare for the wildlife action ahead.
Day 2: Arusha to Serengeti (Ndutu Area) Leave the city behind for a 5.5-hour drive (approx. 260 km) to the Ndutu region, the heart of the calving grounds between December and April. Watch for thousands of newborn calves on the mineral-rich plains, as well as the lions, cheetahs, and hyenas that follow the herds. Spend the day soaking in the scale of the Great Migration.
Day 3: Ndutu to Ngorongoro Conservation Area After a final morning in the calving areas, enjoy a scenic 2.5-hour drive (approx. 75 km) toward the Ngorongoro highlands. As you ascend to the crater rim, notice the landscape shift from open savannas to lush rolling hills. Arrive at your accommodation in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the cooler high-altitude air.
- Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Tour to Arusha Descend early for a 5 to 6-hour game drive on the crater floor, an ancient volcanic caldera packed with roughly 30,000 animals. Search for elephants, buffalo, lions, and the rare black rhino before enjoying a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. Conclude your safari with a 4-hour drive back to Arusha for your evening departure.
